People and portrait photography are both passions of mine. I believe, as a photographer, it’s all about photographing the relationship that develops between myself and the client.
There has to be some trust on their side, that I will respect them as we work to capture who they really are.
A beautiful ‘unfurling’ is possible,if I can create that space for us to exist during a photo-shoot.
And before you ask, I don’t believe there is a person who photographs badly, I only believe that there are photographers who fail to achieve the psychological space where a person can be something of who they really are. There is beauty in every living soul. You only need to find it.
No one photographs badly. Repeat after me :-)
No One.
Also, I can never tell you, ‘this is how the photo-shoot will go’ because each client, each group, each event, create their own atmosphere. My job is all about capturing who they are and what they create, not about setting them up so I capture what I have created.
It’s fun. A free-fall, an exploration, a discovery … always.
Francesca Puccio - Director at Standing Renovation, in Brussels, was a client of mine. She captured, in words, my desire, always:
Di’s pictures are not only beautiful; they capture the spirit of a moment or in my case, the essence of a person. I don’t know how she does it: somehow she gets invisible so that you don’t have to pose or to pretend to be different from what you are. Then, she captures your authentic self!
